AWW THANKS GUYS :D :D :D

  1. I’ve got pretty fantastic hair! It’s about the only part of me I’m vain about. It goes down to my belt when it’s braided, to my thighs when it’s loose. Other people can use it as a scarf if they’re sitting next to me! :) :)
  2. I am unflaggingly cheerful! Like, 110% INVESTED AND SUNNY. Okay, sort of, a poisonous work environment is starting to erode on me and I’m pretty sure I keep veering into “not sarcastic, just cutting” :/ BUT I TRY to be the nicest damn person anyone’s going to meet all day. I actively TRY to be that person.
  3. I am cute and small and a sweetheart? I AM A POCKET-SIZED HUFFLEPUFF? god i don’t know “nice things about yourself” geez.
  4. SOMETIMES WHEN I WRITE THINGS IT ENCOURAGES EMOTIONAL RESPONSES IN OTHER PEOPLE AND I THINK THAT’S FLY.
  5. I don’t bother people unless my survival is on the line and also my track record for not killing people who don’t use their turn signals is pretty impressive. Just saying.

Your Rage, Twitter Poetry by Sugi Ganeshananthan

(via recallthename)

I was never interested in looking at that story of brave slaves who rebelled and escaped. I like those stories. I think there are many of those stories, both in film and in book. I’m fascinated by the extent to which people don’t run away. I think if you look around us, that is the remarkable fact - How much we accept what fate has given us. Sometimes it’s just passivity; sometimes it’s just simply perspective - We don’t have the perspective to think about running away. And ultimately I was looking for a metaphor for how we face mortality. We can’t escape from the fact that we only have a limited amount of time.

It’s my responsibility, she thinks, herding her brothers out the door. I’m the older sister. I’m the oldest child. I do what I have to to help.

Sophia’s Spotlight: an endless list of awesome things
Presenting today’s feature:
Maggie Fitzgerald and the Saltwater Drip by antistar_e (kaikamahine)
Summary: Google politely tells her there are no poisonous spiders in Manhattan. Judging by her symptoms — fever, superstrength, newfound desire to shove herself into small dark spaces, and sudden reputation as a masked vigilante — Gwen would beg to differ. [Spider!Gwen AU.] Warnings for SPIDERS. LOTS OF SPIDERS. Blood and minor amounts of gore. Direct displays and discussion of racism, sexism, ableism, and police brutality. Offscreen references to rape, rape culture, gun violence, gun culture.
Why everyone should read it: Do you ever read those fics that are so good it kind of changes your life? You know, where the worldbuilding is fantastic, the characters are spot-on, the dialogue is clever, and the writing is totally solid? Where it takes all the stuff that bothers you about the source material and makes it a thousand times better? And not only that, but actively examines racism, sexism, rape culture, police brutality, etc. in a way that feel especially relevant considering real world events? Where you actually can no longer accept any other version of this fictional universe, even the original canon? And oh yeah, the word count is almost 80k?
This is that fic.

Oh my gosh, what an amazing thing!! :D Thank you so much for taking the time to make such a gorgeous graphic and to say such lovely things about my fic!

your life is worth living even if you’re “not doing anything”

your life is worth living even if you are “letting life pass you by”

your life is worth living even if you stay in bed all day every day watching netflix

you don’t have to be big, beloved, important, beautiful, wealthy or famous

there is dignity in just being

it is ok to be

you merely have to be
